The merchants request remedy against the ulnagers, who they claim are making excessive demands and charges, to the great damage of their profit. They warn that the cloth trade will suffer, to their loss and that of the King's customs.

Sue before the Treasurer and Barons of the Exchequer, and be heard there.Before the Great Council.

Note
Dated to the period c.1320-c.1350 solely on the basis of the handwriting, although the endorsement referring to the council might suggest it was heard while the King was either not in control of the government, or absent from the realm. The duplicate of this petition at SC 8/124/6196 is endorsed 'merchants of London', but whether the present petition was also from London is uncertain.
