Alien merchants.
Addressees
King and Council.
Nature of request
The alien merchants request the confirmation of charters granted to them by the king's father, paying the same charges as before, as they are being harassed by the king's officials.
Nature of endorsement
Concerning the charters let them sue before the king; and concerning the grievances over actions against the tenor of their charters let them sue in Chancery [cancelled].They should show their charters and grievances before the Chancellor and Treasurer, and the king will be informed.
Note
From the handwriting this is almost certainly presented to Edward III, presumably early in his reign and referring to charters of Edward II.
