Nature of request
Adam de Wyithiford, former Chamberlain of North Wales, states that the King ordered him to send 500 marks into the wardrobe, which was to have been paid to Mortimer. He sent 100 marks of this with his clerk, William de Markeleye, but William was drowned in the Severn, and the money was lost. However, the sum was still charged against his account, and as a result Adam has been sent to prison on two occasions, where he still remains. He therefore requests that the sum be discharged, and that he be released from prison.
