Nature of request
John Mapilton requests the appointment of justices to examine his case and restore him to property in Shoe Lane in London, from which he has been ousted under a false claim made against Rayner, who formerly held the property. Mapilton details the history of the property, and the actions of debt made against Rayner.

[on face] To the Lords.[on dorse] The Council shall have the authority of Parliament to summon the justices and the parties and to examine the matter contained in the petition and to do what seems best to them in this case.

Note
The appearance of Gascoigne and Thirning as the first two of the three justices would seem to date the petition to the reign of Henry IV, when Gascoigne was Chief Justice of King's Bench (Henry V replaced him with Hankeford), and Thirning was Chief Justice of Common Pleas. Thirning died in 1413, soon after Henry V's accession.
