Description
Petitioners
Geoffrey de Mont Revel (Montravel).
Name(s)
de Mont Revel (Montravel), Geoffrey
Addressees
King and council.
Places mentioned
Gascony, [France]
Edinburgh, [Scotland]
Castillon, [Gascony, France].
Nature of request
Geoffrey de Mont Revel states that, when the King graciously compensated those people of Gascony who had lost their lands, he was in the King's garrison at Edinburgh, and did not receive the same treatment. He therefore requests that he be shown the same grace, or alternatively be granted lands in England.
Nature of endorsement
He should sue, and let other nobles of Gascony testify as to the value of his lands before the King, and then let it be done as was done for the others, and it was later returned by the oath of the lord of Castillon and others of Gascony that his lands amounted to the value of £300, and therefore make letters of the King to him for £150, namely for half.
Note
Geoffrey de Mont Revel appears on a list of people receiving such grants (Roles Gascons, vol. III, no. 4529 (no.235)), along with a note referring to a petition received in the King's thirtieth year. This is presumably that petition.
