- Nature of request
- The mayor and people of Northampton state that they hold the town at an annual fee farm of £120, and have various other charges. However, the town is greatly impoverished by disease and destruction, and much of the town is deserted. They therefore request that their charters be confirmed, and that the mayor be granted the assizes of bread and other victuals, and of weights and measures, in order to lessen the fee farm, which was assessed when the town was worth three times its present value.
