Nature of request
The proctor of the Abbot and Convent of Marmoutier requests that the abbey be restored to lands on Guernsey which have been taken into the King's hands by Henry de Guldeforde and his colleagues, justices itinerant, because the abbot did not attend the last eyre in person. He states that the abbot and convent are ready to stand to law according to the law and customs of the isle.
Nature of endorsement
The justices record that William le Jeofne and others complained of the said abbot in their eyre, where, according to the custom of the country, no one ought answer by proctor; and so before the King.Let him sue a writ to bring the record before the King, and justice is to be done there.Coram Rege.
