Nature of request
The merchants [of London] request remedy against the ulnagers, who they claim are making excessive demands and charges, to the great damage of their profit. They warn that the cloth trade will suffer, to their loss and that of the King's customs.
Nature of endorsement
Let this petition be sent to the Treasurer, and let him summon the ulnagers and have right done to those who wish to complain, and also to apply suitable remedy to the profit of the king and his people.Before the Great Council.The Merchants of London.
