Nature of request
Joan, the wife of Thomas Martyn of Canterbury, requests that her grant of 14d weekly from the fee farm of Canterbury be exempted from the forthcoming Act of Resumption. She states that the grant was made to her after her hand was cut off by Rys, a yeoman of the Crown, during the king's visit to Canterbury, and asks for exemption as she is otherwise unable to make a living.
