Description
Petitioners
Arnaud (Arnaut, Arnold) de Puychs (Puch), attorney of the people of Rions.
Name(s)
de Puychs (Puch), Arnaud (Arnaut, Arnold)
Addressees
King and Council.
Nature of request
Arnaud de Puychs, on behalf of the people of Rions, request the payment of the remainder of a sum promised to them by the king's father under letters of purveyance during the recent war. He asks that the king order Frescobaldi and his company, who hold the issues of Gascony, to make the necessary payment.
Nature of endorsement
Let a writ be issued to Emeric de Frescobaldi and his fellow merchants of the Frescobaldi of Florence, receivers of the revenue of the Duchy of Aquitaine, that, having been shown the letter mentioned in this petition by Arnaud, attorney and proctor of those people, Emeric should pay the said £75 in part payment out of the issues of the duchy.
Places mentioned
Rions, [Guyenne, France]
Bordeaux, [Guyenne, France]
London
Florence, [Italy]
Aquitaine, [France].
People mentioned
[Edward I], King of England
Emeric de Frescobaldi.
Note
Dated on the guard to c.1307 following, with reference to SC 8/292/14565, a request for assistance in re-building the town answered in 1305. The reference to the king's father clearly dates it to the reign of Edward II, and an order for the arrest of Emeric de Frescobaldi and his colleagues for non-payment of customs was issued on 12 October 1311 (Catalogue des Rolles Gascons, I, p.39).
