Nature of request
John, son of John de Londres, requests the return of 5 marks rent held by his father from a tenement in Uddynggate [in Berwick]. This tenement was held by Feryn Born, and is now in the king's hands following Feryn's forfeiture.
Nature of endorsement
[John] Bartholomew, son of Roger Bartholomew, and his ancestors were seised of the tenement in the time of King Alexander, which was then given to John de London and his heirs, who demised this to James de Colonia at a rent of 5 marks per year. James then demised this to Feryn Born for the same rent, and by his forfeiture it is in the hands of the king, and the said John was seised of this rent until he was removed by the sheriff, and the sheriff returned etc., and that the said rent was [...], and that John son of John is the son and heir of the said John.Let him have a writ to the sheriff of Berwick to deliver the said rents to him, to hold as they were held before, saving to the King and anyone else.

The resultant writ to the chamberlain of Berwick was issued from York on 4 March 1334. Forms part of a group of petitions from this family relating to the aftermath of the capture of Berwick in 1333.
