Note (Additional information about the record)
- From the handwriting, the petition would seem to date to the mid-fourteenth century. Thomas de Lambourne died in September 1361 (CIPM, XI, no.106). A large scale assessment to provide hobelars for the king's armies was implemented in 1345-6 (the time of the Crecy campaign), and this assessment may possibly date from that time.
