- Nature of request
- The lords of the March state that writs of oyer et terminer are being prosecuted in Gloucestershire and other counties against tenants of their lordships for offences committed within those lordships. These have caused the sheriffs to return that the tenants are not found, resulting in many being outlawed. When these people then pass outside the liberty on their lord's business, they are imprisoned and subject to forfeiture, to their impoverishment and to the prejudice of these lordships. Therefore, the lords request that, when a tenant can prove that the alleged trespass occurred outside the body of the county, a writ be issued to the justices and sheriff to stay the outlawry, and that outlaws may reverse their outlawry as long as the lords agree to uphold the law in their own courts.
