Date
[? c. 1378]
Description
Petitioners
Goldsmiths of London.
Addressees
King and Council.
Nature of request
[This petition is damaged and incomplete]The goldsmiths of London request remedy concerning various damages and deceits relating to the sale of gold and silver in England. They state that the king has already issued a good ordinance in response to a petition presented by them to the Westminster parliament of the king's first year, but that they have now discovered further abuses requiring action.
Nature of endorsement
[None]
Places mentioned
London.
Note
Dated on the guard to c. 1377-8, with reference to Rot. Parl. Vol. III, p.9, which appears to be a record of the earlier petition of the king's first year referred to in this petition. If this is the case, the present petition presumably dates to the Gloucester parliament of 1378, or a later parliament.
