[? c. 1330]
Description
Petitioners
Stephen Mire of London.
Name(s)
Mire, Stephen
Addressees
King and Council.
Nature of request
Mire seeks remedy in his dispute with Walshman. He states that he had rented property in London to Walshman, allowing him the rent for the term of his life with agreement to return it thereafter. Letters were drawn up to this effect, which Stephen was to keep. However, he claims that Walshman then broke into his chests and stole the agreements, cloth and other goods, and then entered the rents, and ejected Stephen into Newgate. He asks for remedy, as he has been unable to have justice due to the extent of the franchise of London.
Nature of endorsement
Concerning the goods, chattels and muniments which were stolen and the coffers which were broken, he should have a writ of trespass at the common law. And regarding the account, if he wishes to say that the auditors have charged him other than what they should, he should have a writ to bring them and their account before the Treasurer and Barons of the Exchequer.
Places mentioned

People mentioned

Note
Dated on the guard to '? c. 1330-1', but no evidence cited. However, this petition appears similar to other petitions attributed to this period.
