Nature of request
The petitioners seek the recovery of a watermill and property in Kirk Ireton. They had sued writs against Hugh de Langeley and Alice de Langeley for these, recovering Alice's third, but had been disseised by Thomas of Lancaster. The property is now in the king's hands following Lancaster's forfeiture.
Nature of endorsement
Let sufficient men be assigned to enquire into the truth of this business, and let the inquisition be returned into Chancery, and the muniments of the Earl should be searched, and if no release is found, let it be certified to the king.
