Nature of request
Letter from the sub-prioress and convent of Grace Dieu in Leicestershire to Edward II, regarding the election of one of their number to succeed Agnes Gurdon as prioress of their house. They note that the provision to the house is in the king's hands due to the three co-heiresses of Theobald de Verdon being under-age, but that they have been asked to elect a prioress according to the customs of their order.

Joan de Hastings and Cecilia de Mountfort, nuns of the house, have applied to the court for a licence to elect.
