Addressees

Occupation

Nature of request
[The right edge of this petition is damaged]The petitioners request that the king make no further assigns or grants of various lands until it has been decided whether the lands appertain to the king or to the petitioners. They state that the reversion of these lands was granted to them by Michael de la Pole [late Earl of Suffolk] in 8 Richard II, to then be re-granted to Michael's sons and daughter.
Nature of endorsement
The King has granted this petition by the advice and assent of the Lords in Parliament.

Wingfield, Suffolk
Peldon, Essex
Little Burley, Northamptonshire
Messingham, Lincolnshire
Stamford, Lincolnshire
London
Langham, [Essex].
People mentioned
Michael de la Pole, [formerly Earl of Suffolk]
[Alice] de Nevill of Essex
John Gamson
Note
The reversion of these lands and others was confirmed to the petitioners on 11 January 1393 (CPR 1391-6, p.310), and presumably the petition pre-dates that grant, although by how far is uncertain. It clearly deals with property issues in the aftermath of the forfeiture of the Earl of Suffolk. The grant states that the petitioners were granted the income from the lands to assist in building a 'Domus Dei' in Hull, details seemingly now lost from this damaged petition.
