[The right edge of this petition is missing]The Mayor and Commons of London request that the king order his justices and sergeants to proceed with a case pending between the Westons and Farndon, judgment on which had been delayed due to uncertainties as to whether trying such a case before justices appointed by the King was against the privileges of the city.

Note
An order to the justices to proceed to judgment was issued on 18 January 1379 (CCR 1377-81, pp.177-8), citing decisions made at the Gloucester parliament of October-November 1378. This petition appears to be the response to the proviso included in that order, stating that the justices should go ahead if the city officials do not present further reasons for delay. Thus this petition must have been presented to the following parliament, held in April and May 1379. Details lost from the petition have been supplied from the Close Roll entry.
