Robert Lincoln requests that he be delivered from prison, where he has been committed following his wrongful arrest and conviction on a spurious trespass charge brought against him following allegations by Burton. He states that he had been summoned before the council to undertake secret business, but had then been arrested by officials of the Abbot of Westminster. He was initially released due to his privy seal letter of protection, but was then re-arrested on Burton's charge and committed to the Marshalsea, contrary to the special protection afforded to him on account of his business.

Places mentioned

Note
Dated on the guard to? c. 1381-3, but no firm evidence cited. This petition is clearly concerned with the same events as SC 8/122/6056-7, and, from the greater detail and the internal references, would seem to be the first of this series, being presented to the same Parliament as Lincoln was originally summoned. If the summons is that appearing in CPR 1377-81, pp.252-3, then the parliament in question is probably that of autumn 1378.
