The petitioners request the release of the son of the Count of Denia, a prisoner in London, which would in turn allow for the release of themselves and other subjects of the king in prison in Spain. This had been agreed by Edward II and his council, but not carried out.

Note
Dated on the guard to? 1378-80, with reference to SC 8/121/6049, this probably being the petition referred to in that document. This is clearly one of the many petitions relating to the long-running captivity of the son of the Count of Denia, captured at the Battle of Najera on 3 April 1367. The petitioners were presumably either among those captured with Pembroke at La Rochelle in 1372, or later stood as hostages for him.
