Nature of request
The people of London request that churchmen holding tenements and rents in the city be required to contribute to the fine being levied by the city for the king. They complain that the king has moved the court out of London, to the sadness, damage and destruction of all, and especially those with tenements and rents in the city.

Assigned by Rot. Parl. vol. III, p.325 to the Parliament of 1394. The petition is clearly related to the dispute between Richard II and the City of London, as a result of which Richard moved the court to York, and imposed a large fine.
