Description

Accounts received form Martinico [Martinique]; L'Eole and La Ferme, of 74 guns each, with seven or eight frigates constitute the French Naval Force on this station; six battalions, of 500 men each, compose the garrisons of Martinique and Guadeloupe, with their dependencies, namely St. Lucia and Tobago; these are said to be very sickly; reference to battalion of Touraine; reports that from all they can learn, the 'troubles' in the French colonies 'subside but slowly.'
