Description

Reports Lieutenant Colonel Frazer, Chief Engineer in the islands, has transmitted to him an extract of a letter from the Master General of the Ordnance, directing him to stop all works in Grenada, and some of the other islands, and to discharge all 'Negro's' hired by the Ordnance for the fortifications, until correct estimates are transmitted home; in consequence the Assistant Engineer has reported that one chief overseer, two assistant overseers, five white masons, twenty 'negro' masons, two 'negro' carpenters, one 'negro' blacksmith, and forty 'negro' labourers will be discharged tomorrow.
