Description

Black Corps; reports would be happy if his ideas regarding the Black Corps submitted in letter of 11th December met the approval of the King; refers to subject of 'an aid of twenty male Slaves per Regiment, and ten for the Artillery, proposed to each Island'; believes that 'by taking the duties most unfriendly to European constitutions, these people would probably save the lives of many soldiers, and certainly add much to the comfort, convenience, and durability of the troops'; plan of 'hiring Negroes' [enslaved persons] has been adopted until the disposition of the colonies is known and has received King's approval; reports it would appear purchasing instead of hiring would in the end be most economical to the colonies or government, and more beneficial to the service.
