[-] in Frankfurt to Kaunitz (extract): he has hesitated to write before because of conflicting reports. The day after the coronation their imperial majesties learned from a courier that Prince Charles [of Lorraine] had surprised the Prussians, but that his Hungarians and cavalry had fallen to looting the Prussian camp. The Austrians lost 1,900 men and the Prussians double that number. The French and Prussian ministers denied the reports, but yesterday evening M. de Gastheim arrived with news that [Charles] had surprised the Prussians again, captured most of his generals, burnt his camp and killed or captured 10,000 men. ff. 207, 208
