Harrington to Cumberland, informing him of the 'unfortunate success of His Majesty's arms against the rebels [Prestonpans]. The ten battalions from Flanders are marching against the rebels under Wade. Cumberland is to hold six more battalions and three regiments of dragoons in readiness to march at a moment's warning. He should not wait for notice if the enemy go into winter quarters or embark troops for Britain, or if the English and Hanoverian prisoners arrive. Dated (NS) at Whitehall.
