Cumberland to Newcastle: he is surprised at the [young pretender's] landing, but does not doubt that Sir John Cope will put an immediate stop to it. He will maintain troops in readiness. The king's return to England; Ligonier to meet him at Utrecht. The [late] garrison of Ostend, and reasons for its fall. If the French undertake more, he expects it to be a siege of Ath. Their king is returning to Versailles. He encloses letters from Saxe's secretary to his own undersecretary [SP 87/18/35], and from Saxe to him [SP 87/18/36]. Dated at camp at Vilvoorde. ff. 68-70
