Chanclos to Fawkener, enclosing a copy of a letter from Cumberland of 11 August. Progress of the siege. At the request of the magistrates of Ostend, the French have agreed to spare the churches, but not the ships in the harbour. Dated at Ostend. PS. that the ships which went to England for fresh water have not yet returned. ff. 26, 27
