Carteret to Wade: the French proposal for a cartel has been referred to the lords of the admiralty. French prisoners will continue to be sent to Calais. He encloses a duplicate of his letter of 17 July and an extract [SP 87/14/148] of a letter from Trevor on the proposed siege of Maubeuge. The British artillery train is to be moved to Antwerp, and a twenty-gun ship has been ordered to escort it. Colonel Lascelles may be employed at The Hague.
