Proposal [sentiment] of Arenberg at a council of war: leaving a small camp on the Ghent-Bruges canal for the defence of Flanders, the army should advance on Tournai and cross the Scheldt there. The British artillery should be moved from Ostend to Antwerp for a siege. If the British and Dutch cannot agree on financing a siege, and the French avoid combat, then a detachment of 20-25,000 should be sent to the Moselle. Dated at Berlegem. f. 243
