General Chanclos [to Carteret]: two ships of the convoy bringing Dutch troops from Margate ran aground outside Ostend in bad weather. The troops have been recovered from one, but the other has disappeared. Smissaert will march for Bruges together with the highlanders and 200 Hanoverians, leaving Dutch troops to replace them. He doubts whether the French intend to attack Ostend. Dated at Ostend. ff. 206, 207
