General Smissaert [to Carteret]: two ships of the convoy bringing Dutch troops from Margate ran aground outside Ostend in bad weather. The troops have been recovered from one, but the other has disappeared. Leaving a regiment and five companies to strengthen the garrison, he will march next day for Bruges, in company with the highlanders and Hanoverians. Dated at Ostend. ff. 204, 205
