Extract from a letter from Colonel Borch in Tournai: the town is in a good state of defence. There are nightly attacks on the outer gates by French pandours. It is thought certain that Saxe and his corps will rejoin the main army. The townspeople are keeping the French informed. The French now wish they had taken Tournai before Menin. ff. 187, 188
