Wade [to Carteret]: he has had an audience with Prince Charles [of Lorraine] and tried to dissuade him from departing for the Rhine, but the prince was adamant. Count Nassau also had an audience with the same outcome. The eight Austrian battalions marching to join the army have been reduced to four. The French king has arrived at Valenciennes. Dated at Brussels. ff. 81, 82
