Carteret to Honeywood, enclosing an extract from a letter from the British minister in Paris to the effect that Amelot, the French minister of state, has informed Thompson that war will be declared [SP 87/14/26]. This has been confirmed by the Dover-Calais packet. Honeywood is to inform all British subjects in the country of this. Dated (OS) at Whitehall. f. 38
