Newcastle to Stair: he has received Stair's letter about Cromarty Bay, will present it to the king and has sent a copy to 'His Royal Highness' [duke of Cumberland]. Reinforcements for [Cumberland], who has ordered Lord Loudoun with the highlanders to join him. Ships stationed in the Moray Firth. The rebels may attempt to stop Cumberland passing the Spey.
