Munchberg [?to Newcastle]: he has been in Paris for three weeks after establishing correspondents in Holland, Lille, Douai and Valenciennes. Indiscretion and jealousy of a person in London. He has an entrée with Princess de Conti, Belle-Isle and the marquise de Fontanges. A certain Fontauban, now in Brussels or Mons and passing as King Stanislaus' secretary, is negotiating with the friends of France, a treasonable act which could lead to the fall of Mons. He has given Munchberg letters of introduction, which he pretends to have lost. He has informed Königsegg of this. Consternation of the court at the battle of Dettingen. Dated at Paris. ff. 139, 140
