Description

Reports there are a number of men of both regiments in the hospital with ulcerated legs and dysentery in a very bad state who have been deemed 'incurable' in the West Indies and if not immediately sent to England many of them 'must lose their legs or lives', has therefore given orders for their being embarked and has directed the Paymaster General to pay five guineas per man for their passage, which is the lowest terms that could be obtained; enclosures: Return of the Sick Men of the 45th Regiment incurable in the West Indies, dated Grenada 17 February 1789 [names: Richard Margison, Jasper Purcell, Thomas Revill - all three with dysentry]; Return of the men of the 67th Regiment, dated Grenada 16 February 1789 [with exception of John Bullions Corp. who has a worn out constitution, all have sore leg with fever; names: James Galloway; Thomas Sutcliff; Jasper Miles; Thomas Lane; Mark Duffle; James Evans; Stephen Shutler; Joseph Spence; James Smith; John Stratton; Mathew Jamieson; John Taylor; John Drakford; Thomas Young; Henry Denny; Robert Leaver; Berry Buckwell; Thomas Lewis; John McQuillan; Robert Harry; John Jones; John Hyde].
