Prince Ferdinand of Brunswick to Holdernesse: in his relation of the battle of Minden [SP 87/37/18] he said that it was Captain Malortie who carried the order to Lord George Sackville to proceed in column, but he now has some doubt about this, so he has asked each of his aides de camp who carried his orders to Sackville that day to put them in writing. This has revealed that it was Mr. d'Estorff, adjutant general. He encloses the declarations. Malortie hopes to be well enough to travel to England in a few weeks, but Ferdinand hopes none of his other aides will be called so close to the start of the campaign. Dated at Paderborn. ff. 114, 115
