Description

Thomas Corbett. The petitioner James Croucher, who has served as Master Caulker and shipwright at Jamaica and lost his sight and the use of his limbs, has applied for superannuation. This was granted in 1740, as carpenter of a 4th rate only. Ask if he can be paid the same allowance that the offices he has held would receive and if there are any instances of Officers being superannuated like that from Yard employment or only from duty served on ships. Can find no record of Officers being superannuated from Yard employment abroad
