Report of John William Rose, Recorder of London, on William Skelton, a child, convicted (with his mother, [unnamed]) at the Old Bailey for stealing goods in a shop. Grounds for clemency: The criminality rests with the mother and the child should be saved from destruction. Initial sentence: death. Recommendation: free pardon on condition of the Lord Mayor finding a situation for the child in the Philanthropic Society. Folios 131-132.
