Letter of John William Rose, Recorder of London, concerning Thomas Cripps, tried at the Old Bailey in September 1796, for stealing some cotton. Initial sentence: 7 years transportation. Mr Justice Rooke, who tried the prisoner, has requested Rose to make an application for a free pardon. Folios 333-334.
