Description

Report of Richard Perryn on John Perry, convicted (with his father and brother; father now executed and brother in HM. Navy) at the [Wiltshire Assizes] at New Sarum in March 1794, for a highway robbery on William Bowles. Prisoner is currently on board the hulks at Portsmouth. Grounds for clemency: that his father drew him (and his brother) in to commit the crime, previous good character. Initials sentence: [death, commuted to transportation]. Recommendation: to serve in HM. Forces; annotated 'Let him be pardoned for the army'. Folios 324-325. See also HO 47/20/56, folios 309-310.
