Report of John William Rose, Recorder of London, on 1 individual petition (prisoner) and 1 collective petition (the 2 prosecutors) on behalf of William Wilson, convicted (with James Barwick) at the Old Bailey in January 1796, for stealing 2 wooden casks/kegs, 2 gallons of gin, and 2 gallons of peppermint, value £1.9.0, (30/- in the petition), property of Alexander Gordon and Malachi Foot, distillers in St. John's Street, on 17 December 1795. Evidences supplied by David Saunders, carman to Gordon and Foote and Richard Ferris, 'an Officer'. Grounds for clemency: first offence and can supply sureties. Initial sentence: 7 years transportation. Recommendation: no mercy. Folios 315-318.
