Report of Thomas Butterworth Bayley, Chairman of the Lancashire Quarter Sessions, on James Foreman and Andrew Burgess, convicted at the Lancashire Quarter Sessions at Manchester in January 1794, Foreman for receiving stolen goods, Burgess for stealing cotton twist, property of J. Ashworth. Grounds for clemency: the chaplain/governor reported to the grand jury that both men were behaving well in prison and acting as a good example to other prisoners. Initial sentence: 2 years in Manchester Prison. Recommendation: pardon. Folios 141-142.
