Report of John William Rose, Recorder of London, on 1 collective petition (3 people, City of London Alderman) on behalf of William Hoyland, apprentice compositor, convicted (with William Thomas and James Tisdell) at the Old Bailey in February 1793, for stealing 100lbs of lead, value 10/-, property of George Davis, brewer, on 21 January 1793. Evidences supplied by Jehew Ward, watchman; Edward Lee and William May, watchman and [---] King. Grounds for clemency: youth (18 years), previous good character, led astray by Tisdell and Thomas getting him drunk and he has already served 21/2 years confinement. Initial sentence: 7 years transportation. Recommendation: to enlist in HM. Navy. Folios 134-137.
