Description

Certificate/memorial from Soulden Lawrence, Francis Buller and Charles Fanshaw on prisoners capitally convicted on the Western Circuit and recommended to mercy on the conditions set against their names:

Southampton: Hampshire 3 March 1795

1. James Williams, convicted for highway robbery. Recommendation: transportation.

2. Joseph Weldon, convicted for burglary. Recommendation: 7 years transportation.

3. James Wright and Joseph Cox, convicted for wilfully killing 1 ewe sheep with intent to steal the carcass. Recommendation: Wright, 7 years transportation; and Cox, transportation for life.

Wiltshire 7 March 1795

4. Sarah Pearce, convicted for burglary. Recommendation: 7 years transportation.

5. Joseph Gilbert, convicted for wilfully killing a gelding. Recommendation: transportation for life.

6. James Ovrin and James McCrackin, convicted for highway robbery. Recommendation: transportation for life. See also HO 47/18/07 Folios 21-29.

7. John Pain, Samuel Pain and Samuel Foster, convicted for burglary. Recommendation: transportation for life.

9. Samuel Hogg, alias Samuel Marsden, convicted for highway robbery. Recommendation: 7 years transportation.

10. Absolom West and John Hodges, convicted for horse stealing. Recommendation: 14 years transportation.

11. James West and William Chamberlain, convicted for highway robbery. Recommendation: 14 years transportation.

12. Joseph White, convicted for burglary. Recommendation: 7 years transportation.
