Report of John Heath on 1 collective petition (4 people) on behalf of Thomas Case, convicted at the Lancashire Spring Assizes for high treason (traitorously colouring a piece of base metal to resemble a shilling) on 9 December 1794. Evidence supplied by Richard Howarth. Grounds for clemency: behaved well while in prison, confirmed by an annotation to the petition by John Higgin, keeper of the gaol in Lancaster, his father was now elderly, came from a reputable family, had a wife and 5 young children to support. Initial sentence: death. Recommendation: none made. Folios 156-159.
