Report of John Heath on 1 individual petition (Lord William Clive) on behalf of Thomas Sherratt/Thomas Sharrot and William Finnah, convicted at the 'last' Lancashire Assizes, for burglary and stealing 2 hens, property of James Stopford of Manchester. Evidence supplied by James Slopford. Grounds for clemency: 'would make a fine soldier' at Quebec. Initial Sentence: 7 years transportation. Recommendation: enlistment in HM. Forces 'care may be taken that he do (sic) not return to soon in case his regiment should be ordered home.' Folios 101-104. See also HO 47/18/71, folios 296-297.
